Hatchery Technician

Clipper Pearls requires an experienced Senior Hatchery Technician to join our team on a full time basis located in a pristine remote area of the Kimberley.

The candidate will be able to show a minimum of 2 year’s experience as a Pearl Oyster or Mollusc Hatchery Technician from an aquaculture facility and who is looking to advance their career by undertaking a Senior Hatchery Technician role. Food and accommodation are included whilst working at the hatchery site. The successful candidate would be required to undertake rostered work according to a schedule, which will include some weekends and public holidays.

To secure this rare opportunity you must be able to provide evidence of the following selection criteria:
• An in depth knowledge of all processes and components of a commercial or research algal lab and hatchery infrastructure.
• Sound knowledge of, or the ability to obtain, all legislative requirements set by the WA Department of Fisheries.
• Able to maintain and document strict procedural processes relating to both algal and larval culture
• Ability to work unsupervised, be a self-motivated team player and have a mature attitude
• Current WA C Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
• Current Police Clearance (valid within 3 months of date of issue)
• Current Senior First Aid
• Attention to detail
• Monitor staff directly responsible to you.

It would also be an added advantage if you possess:

• A Degree or diploma in any marine or aquatic discipline.
• Experience in working with “Pinctada maxima” preferred.

• Remuneration based on qualifications and /or experience

• Food and Accommodation provided whilst on site
• Working in some of the most picturesque scenery in the Broome and Kimberley region
