Clipper Pearls Yardhand

Job Description

Title: Yardhand
Department(s): Clipper Base, Herbert St, Broome.
Reports to: Base Logistics Supervisor and/or Yardhand Supervisor

Job Summary

The position involves the overall responsibility for maintenance, general repairs and appearance of all Clippers husbandry equipment and vehicles. Yardhands may be required to work off site as required e.g. slipway, hatchery

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Cleaning, repair and construction of all farm gear and equipment as required including panels
  • Manufacture of bottom and surface long line equipment
  • Cleaning and upkeep of all company vehicles
  • Grading and packing of mother of pearl shell
  • General maintenance and tidiness of Clipper Pearls yard
  • Assist the Base Logistics Supervisor and Yardhand Supervisor as directed
  • Oversee casual labour as required

Minimum Requirements

  1. Police Clearance      
  2. Must be physically fit
  3. Able to work as part of a team   
  4. Reliable and enthusiastic
  5. Understanding of pearling husbandry equipment
  6. Desirable Requirements
  7. Current fork lift licence     
  8. Current drivers licence     
  9. Current MR truck licence or ability to get one
