Job Description

Title: Yardhand Supervisor
Department(s): Clipper Base, Herbert St, Broome
Reports to: Base Logistics Supervisor

Job Summary

The position involves assisting in the maintenance, general repairs and appearance of all Clippers husbandry equipment.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Cleaning and repair of all farm gear and equipment as required.
  • Keep detailed inventory of all consumables and relay requirements to the Base Logistics Supervisor.  Maintenance of stock control summaries to be provided as well.
  • Oversee the staff working in the yard when required, be it casual or full time staff.
  • Assist organising of logistics of personnel and farm equipment to the farm effectively.
  • Be involved with vessel bunkers and co-ordination of provisions for the vessel from the yard. Liaise with the Base Logistics Supervisor for equipment required for farm schedules.
  • Assist the Base Logistics Supervisor when required.
  • Liaise with Engineering Supervisor regarding work that may required by that department.
  • Assist in maintaining stock control on all facets of the farm equipment and by-products.
  • Assist in communicate staff arrivals/departures/illness to the Base logistics Supervisor.
  • Maintain proper work safety standards in the yard including being aware of MSDS files and safety procedures.
  • Make yourself aware of, adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures relating to your jurisdiction.
  • Assist in training and supervising all staff in the correct safe operation of all equipment that may be used in the yard.

Minimum Requirements - Essential

  1. C Class and HR Licence
  2. Mechanical background
  3. Forklift Ticket
  4. Senior First Aid

Desirable

  1. Understanding of pearling husbandry equipment

Abilities Required

  1. Must be physically fit
  2. Ability to work as part of a team and unsupervised
  3. Effective communication and literacy skills

Working Environment

  • Outdoors
