Job Description

Title: Plant and Marine Mechanic
Department(s): Engineering
Reports to: Engineer Supervisor

Job Summary

The primary function of this role is to maintain Company vessels, vehicles and plant

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain propulsion and auxiliary on any cleaning boats whilst on hard stand (up to 5 vessels)
  • Notify the Engineering Supervisor of any spares and/or consumables that are required.
  • Maintain Company vessels, vehicles and plant.
  • Keep all tools and spares serviceable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient workshop. Account for all tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times.
  • Adhere to Worksafe legislation and the companies Safety policy.
  • Relieve vessel based engineers as required.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Mechanical trade or MED qualifications preferred but demonstrated experience in a maintenance role will be considered
  2. Up to 2 years experience in the operation and maintenance of marine propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
  3. Restricted Coxswains an advantage.
  4. C Class Drivers Licence (Minimum)
  5. Senior First Aid
  6. Current Police Clearance (within last 3 months)

Abilities Required

  1. Must be mentally and physically fit
  2. Able to work as part of a team and to work unsupervised
  3. Be willing to work weekends and at sea as required
  4. Ability to obtain an MSIC card and Port of Broome Induction card
