The primary function of this role is to train, instruct and supervise crew in accordance with Clipper Pearls policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that accurate records are kept and maintained.
This is a “hands on” role where your work ethic and attitude will reflect and demonstrate the high standards Clipper Pearls expects from its’ employees.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Assist the Assistant Farm Manager and/or Farm Manager with supervision of the deck of any chosen company vessel.
Induct new crew in Occupational Health & Safety of the vessel, shell husbandry and handling.
Supervise deck crew and ensure they are performing their duties correctly and efficiently, whilst maintaining a high level of Occupational Health & Safety.
Ensure that all crew are trained in vessel housekeeping, and high standards are maintained.
Ensure you are aware and understand all company policies and procedures, and that all crew on the vessels adhere to them.
Complete head counts on boarding and departure of crew from mother ships, and immediately report any discrepancies to Assistant Farm Manager and/or Farm Manager.
Maintain an accurate record of all equipment on and off vessels as per inventories and ensure correct stowage.
Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance on shell, panels, ropes and other pearling hardware and make key observations that can assist management with immediate and future decisions.
Keep concise records of shell numbers and mortalities and report these to the Assistant Farm Manager and/or Farm Manager.
Communicate with crew to complete daily target logs and report abnormalities to the Assistant Farm Manager/Farm Manager.
Report to the Assistant Farm Manager/Farm Manager/ Master of Vessel, any person that is a liability to themselves, and other crew, in relation to safety on the vessel, on the wharf or in the company yard.
Have an active involvement in production meetings when required.
Work on cleaning vessels as deckhand/ or skipper when required by Assistant Farm Manager and/or Farm Manager
Cleaning and maintenance of boat decks and all related vessel equipment, when required.
Assist the Master or Engineer, if and when required. In an emergency as per emergency stations list.
Monitor and maintain security protocols as per the Standard Operating procedures
Update daily target log
Maintain accurate daily shell records
Maintain accurate Inventory records
Senior First Aid
